The gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) of Netherlands announced that a fine of €531,250 has been imposed on Malta-based online operator Tipico. The main reason is according to the regulator that Tipico has been offering online games of chance to Dutch consumers illegally, through the tipico.com website.
A fine of 200,000 euros has been announced for the specific violation, while it was increased another three times by 75,000 euros. The first time since tipico was offering bonuses and a hufe number of games and bets, the second for having an inactivity fee in place and the third time for offering live betting, which is considered highly addictive. Finally the fine was increased because the age of the players was not visibly verified. Tipico’s website can no longer be reached with a Dutch IP address.
