North America’s Major League Baseball has agreed to a multi-year partnership with FanDuel, the US fantasy sports company, which becomes an official gaming partner of the MLB.
Through the multi-year agreement, FanDuel will gain access to official MLB data, as well as team branding and logos, for use across its online sports betting sites and at retail sportsbook locations.
Fan Duel, a Flutter Entertainment subsidiary, will become a third official gaming partner of MLB after the league’s previously agreed deals with MGM Resorts International earlier in the year and DraftKings last month.
FanDuel said that gaining access to official MLB data will enhance the in-play and overall sports betting experience, with more than 50 per cent of the operator’s sportsbook business derived from in-play wagering. The deal marks the operator’s first official partnership with either the MLB or its franchises.
“Fantasy sports and sports betting have become a national pastime in their own right, so it’s natural to join forces with Major League Baseball. MLB clearly understands how working together can be beneficial for baseball fans and both companies alike,” said Kip Levin, president and chief operating officer of FanDuel Group.
The deal adds to FanDuel’s growing portfolio of US-based sports partnerships which already includes the NBA and NHL, along with the Brooklyn Nets franchise and the New Jersey Devils respectively.
