GamblersPost Gamblers Post is a dedicated news and networking portal in the online gambling industry which features news, opinions, interviews as well as product and software reviews.
According to the Graj Legalnie legal association figures, regulated bookmakers and online casinos in Poland generated turnover of PLN 6.7bn (£1.4bn / €1.6bn) in 2019 showing a 28.8% year on year increase, but those figures are still behind the unlicenced market.
Polish state received PLN 800m from gambling taxes, of which the STS had 45.5% of the market. The second most popular operator was Fortuna with a 32.3% market share followed by ForBet with a 6.1% share.
The legal association Graj Legalnie highlighted the increased activity from the illegal and unlicenced operators, which control the 60% of the Polish gaming market. If their turnover was also taxed, the state would have been benefited by over another 1bn in tax!
According to the report in November 2019, just three unlicensed foreign operators had a combined 2.1m hits from Poland, despite the fact that their websites are blacklisted from the Polish Ministry of Finance.
On top of that Graj Legalnie reported 1830 illegal gambling websites, of which 1303 have not still been blacklisted. The association proposed the creation of a regulator in the UK or Malta model, to oversee the iGaming sector.
