Euroleague Final Four waiting for the unexpected to happen

Basketball is a sport which is very popular in USA. However, in Europe it is really popular in no more than 10 countries and at the end it comes down to a battle between 4 teams: CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahçe, Real Madrid and one underdog (this year’s underdog is Efes).

The final four is an unfair competition for teams like CSKA. It is immensely hard for the underdog to beat the Russians in a best of 5 series, but there is always the chance that they can beat them in a semifinal or final. Olympiakos has done this three times and Maccabi Tel Aviv once, during the last 6 years.

It is unfair because no matter how hard you try during the regular season everything is going to be decided in one or two games. On the other hand, the Final Four is a competition where you can watch three games holding your breath, waiting for the unexpected to happen.
