Mandalorian Technologies and Betway have become the two latest gaming companies to be fined by the Swedish regulator, Spelinspektionen. Both operators were found to violate bonus offer rules and received six-figure fines.
Licensed operators in Sweden can only offer players a bonus when they first sign up to their online gambling platforms. However, the investigation found that customers were offered bonuses on several occasions after the initial sign-up.
Spelinspektionen has now issued Betway with a fine of SEK5m (€465k) and warned the operator about its conduct. Mandalorian has also been fined SEK9m (€835k) and given an official warning. Swedish regulator wrote to all licensees in February to warn them against offering bonuses to existing customers.
In its statement, Spelinspektionen said: “The main purpose of the new gambling regulation, which came into force on January 1, 2019, is to strengthen consumer protection and reduce the negative effects of gambling.”
Betway currently provides Swedish customers with games via betway.se, while Mandalorian offers games on noaccountcasino.com and prankcasino.com.
