I like basketball a lot! When I was younger, back in the eighties and early nineties, I used to watch European and NBA hoops. Then, the difference between European and American schools was huge as a second class NBA team could destroy the best European team. Furthermore, if you were European you had to be a really big talent in order to play in the best league in the world.

The years have changed and now lots of Europeans, and players from other continents as well, are making careers in the NBA. So, after 24 years, a non-American team is fighting hard for the title. It is the Toronto Raptors, who compete in the NBA, as a member club of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division.

The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. A basketball legend, Rick Pitino, who is coaching a Greek team, was asked by Greek reports some time ago who is the favorite to win the NBA Finals. He answered it was the Raptors.
