The District of Colombia’s Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has revealed that it will launch the application process for new sports betting licences in Washington D.C. on December 3.
After adopting final sports betting regulations in September, OLG will make forms and instructions available on Tuesday 3 December for applicants seeking a sports wagering licence in the operator (Class A and Class B), management service provider, and supplier categories. Occupational licence applications will be made available from early January 2020.
Applications will be available via an online portal on the OLG’s dclotterysportsbetting.com website, as well as through the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affair’s business licensing portal dcra.dc.gov.
“Our team has been working to establish a framework for regulating sports wagering that is fair and fosters public confidence and trust in the process while generating new revenue for the District. We look forward to receiving applications and to the sports wagering industry soon launching in the District of Columbia,” said OLG executive director Beth Bresnahan.“
OLG expects to take around 30-45 days to review applications and begin approving Washington DC Sports Betting licenses.
However, according to the Lottery spokesperson, the launch of its citywide app for sports betting will be delayed once again and it will happen sometime during the first quarter of 2020.
