GRAI and Danish Gambling Authority Formalize Cooperation

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has formalized its partnership with the Danish Gambling Authority through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This collaboration aims to strengthen regulatory cooperation, improve information sharing, and enhance enforcement efforts in an increasingly interconnected European gambling market.

The agreement follows a productive meeting between Anne Marie Caulfield, CEO of the GRAI, and Anders Dorph, Director General of the Danish Gambling Authority. The discussions focused on aligning regulatory approaches to address cross-border challenges, particularly in a digital gambling environment where operators frequently operate across multiple jurisdictions.

This MOU represents a key milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster closer ties between European gambling regulators. By working together, the GRAI and the Danish Gambling Authority can better monitor operators and market practices that impact both countries, ensuring more effective oversight and consistent regulatory standards.

‘This Memorandum of Understanding with the Danish Gambling Authority is another vital milestone in strengthening cooperation between regulators operating in closely connected markets,’ said Anne Marie Caulfield. ‘Continued dialogue and collaboration between Ireland and Denmark will support more effective oversight and regulation, and we see this agreement as part of our continued efforts to deepen cooperation with regulatory partners across Europe.’

The partnership reflects the growing need for coordinated regulatory responses in the iGaming sector. As operators expand their reach across Europe, regulators must adapt to ensure that consumer protections, responsible gambling measures, and compliance standards remain robust and consistent.

This agreement is particularly relevant in today’s digital gambling landscape, where the ability to share intelligence and coordinate enforcement actions is crucial. By formalizing their cooperation, the GRAI and the Danish Gambling Authority are taking a proactive step toward addressing the challenges posed by cross-border gambling operations.

The MOU sets a positive precedent for other European regulators, demonstrating the benefits of collaborative efforts in maintaining a fair, safe, and transparent gambling environment for both operators and consumers.
