The Dutch authorities have decided to temporarily increase the tax rate for the period from July 2018 to January 2019. This measure is taken due to the fact that the local gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit wants to implement all the necessary adjustments enshrined in the new law on gambling.
The tax rate on gross revenue from slot machines, casino gambling and all forms of remote gambling will be increased by 1.1% (to 30.1%). Six months later, the government intends to return the previous tax rate of 29%.
In accordance with the innovations, operators with the domain .nl it are restricted from sending local players to websites with a .com domain. Companies that do not block traffic from the Netherlands and redirect gamblers to offshore sites, violate the rules and are subject to financial sanctions.
