A major Australian manufacturer of slot machines has entered into a $1.3 billion deal to purchase an extremely popular social gaming company based in the United States in an effort to capitalize on the global boom in mobile games.
The purchase of Big Fish Games, according to the idea of Aristocrat, will double the size of the fast-growing digital weapons of the company and make it the second largest social gaming business in the world in terms of revenues.
The news of the acquisition published on the same day when Aristocrat reported its positive financial results for the whole year, following which revenue increased by more than 15 percent in the reporting period to a new figure of more than $2.45 billion. Net profit after tax and before amortization of acquired intangible assets (NPATA) for the year was $543 million, which means an increase of 36% in the reporting period.
