Baha Mar wants to sue $2.25 billion from a Chinese developer

The developers of luxury casino resort in the Bahamas Baha Mar are suing the Chinese developer, demanding compensation of more than $2 billion through court.

In the case filed in the Supreme Court of New York, Sarkis Izmirlian, an Armenian businessperson and owner of the BML Properties casino, claims that China Construction America purposefully delayed the construction of the complex.

The contractor is a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest construction firms, China State Construction Engineering, and was in charge of building the casino’s floor and 2,200 hotel rooms, entertainment and dining centres, and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.

BML also claims CCA sought to sabotage aspects of the project and moved machinery and workers from the Baha Mar site to that of a competing project.
