Betsson fined €300k by the Danish regulator

Betsson Group subsidiary Corona, operator of the Oranje and Kroon online gaming brands, has been fined €300,000 by the Dutch gaming authority for targeting Netherlands-based customers. This has not been the first time Kansspelautoriteit has imposed a six-figure fine on an erring operator.

The investigation reveals that the offending activity took place between May 31 and August 8, 2017. Kansspelautoreit (KSA) regulatory body received complaints regarding the sites prior to this period, but the report notes that the probe was in part a response to the publicity that Betsson itself had sought following the tightening of enforcement regarding games of chance online without a license on 1 June 2017.

Another Betsson-owned online gambling entities had also been under investigation, it became known, but Kansspelautoriteit had ruled that those had not violated its rules. The major operator said in its press release from earlier today that discussions are being held whether they should appeal the Dutch gambling regulator’s recent actions.
