Hard Rock Digital Canada Ltd. has been granted an internet gaming operator license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) for its Hard Rock Bet platform. The license, issued on May 14 and set to expire on May 13, 2027, opens the door for the brand to enter Ontario’s competitive iGaming market.
This development follows earlier reports from Casino.org in May 2025, which indicated that Hard Rock Digital had applied for the license as part of its strategy to acquire PointsBet Canada. However, the deal did not materialize when MIXI successfully purchased PointsBet instead.
Despite the setback, Hard Rock Bet continues to operate in multiple U.S. states, including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia, where it offers online sports betting. The company also holds online casino licenses in New Jersey and Michigan.
The license announcement comes as Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa officially opened its doors in 2025. The $350 million redevelopment project includes a 150-room hotel, expanded gaming floors, live table games, high-limit areas, multiple restaurants and bars, and the Hard Rock Live entertainment venue. The integration of Hard Rock Bet with the land-based casino operations will be a key focus for the brand moving forward.
Ontario’s regulated iGaming market is already well-established, with 44 licensed operators and 76 gaming websites currently active. The entry of Hard Rock Bet into the market is expected to add another layer of competition and innovation.
Hard Rock Digital has not yet disclosed a launch date for the Ontario platform, leaving players and industry watchers anticipating further updates.
