Kambi, DraftKings partnership poised for eight state extension

Global sports betting provider Kambi and DraftKings, the sports-tech and media entertainment company, have completed the signing of a multi-state contract extension.

Kambi and DraftKings first announced their sports betting partnership in June 2018. Under the terms of their agreement, the European provider agreed to power the operator’s sports betting operations in New Jersey. Last year, DraftKings made history by becoming the first operator to launch a mobile betting app in the state.

The expansion agreement covers terms for the Kambi-DraftKings partnership to be extended into eight additional states including Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia and New York. In the latter state, DraftKings is preparing its entry into the fledgling sports gambling market with a grand opening ceremony planned for its retail sportsbook at del Lago Resort & Casino in Upstate New York. As part of the new sportsbook, Del Lago promises more than 6,000 square feet of action, 23 betting kiosks, four betting windows and 1,000 square feet of LED video screens.

“I’m delighted the extension of our relationship through this new agreement will enable players in other states to enjoy the same exciting sports betting experiences that have helped DraftKings become a market leader in New Jersey,” said Kambi CEO Kristian Nylen.

“Kambi has been a key partner for DraftKings, providing us with backend sportsbook technology that has enabled us to offer our customers an engaging product in a highly competitive market,” added DraftKings CEO Jason Robins.

Shares in Stockholm-listed Kambi Group climbed by nearly 20 per cent following the announcement.
