NBA supported the legalization of sports betting

The National Basketball Association continues to actively discuss the possible legalization of sports betting.

While federal officials continue to drag out the process of resolving this issue, more and more presidents of basketball clubs are in favor of this issue. The owner of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban said that he had always supported of legalizing bookmaking business throughout the United States.

Dan Spillane, an attorney for the NBA, believes that Congress must adopt a federal structure that would allow New York and other states to legitimize sports bets, subject to stringent regulatory requirements and technological guarantees. As compensation for the risks and expenses that will arise, Spillane proposed to impose a 1 percent tax on operators, which will be paid to each league.
