This year Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in Tel-Aviv after Israel won in 2018 thanks to Netta Barzilai and her song, Toy. According to odds set by the bookmakers, the Netherlands are strong favourites to win it on Saturday, May 18.
Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence, who will perform “Arcade” song, is a clear leader at William Hill with 1.80 odds. 2nd (Switzerland) and 3rd (Australia) favourites are a significant distance from an Orange country representative and are both set at 7.0. It can be quite confusing to see Australia taking a part in the Eurovision contest, but it’s the reality since the 2015 year.
Switzerland was a big winner of Friday’s jury show. Odds for Luca Hannï’s win were at 19.0 around two weeks ago and even on Friday night, he was still listed at 11.0. Now, he’s only 7.0 to win.
On the other side, Sweden, Italy and Azerbaijan have all fallen back following the jury show. Odds for Swedish John Lundvik’s win have almost doubled and at 14.0 he is occupying the 4th position.
Sweden and the United Kingdom are the only countries to have bagged Eurovision victories five times each. Saturday’s evening competition will be 63rd in its history.
