Australia published a new analytical research, according to which the total cost of gambling in Australia increased by 3.9% in the period from 2015 to 2016, while sports betting reached a growth of 13% compared to the previous year.
Total spending on gambling amounted to $23.6 billion this year. The main part of them came from expenditure on gaming, which includes casinos, gaming machines, lottery, interactive gaming, Keno and Pools, which reached $19.8 billion – representing year-on-year growth of 3.5 percent.
In general, the share of sports betting in the local market increased by 13% to $920.7 million. If consider the cost of gambling per capita, the Australians spent an average of $1,272 per capita, which was a slight increase over the previous year – $1,241.
