The Philippine gambling industry is turning into one of the most lucrative markets in the region, which is pushing casino operators to launder money through this sector. Therefore, the Senate of the Philippines adopted a bill that will attract casino operators in the fight against money laundering.
The document called AMLA (Anti-Money Laundering Act) is likely to pass the third, and then the final reading from late May to early June. This requirement was set by the Asia-Pacific Anti-Money Laundering Group (APG). According to the provisions of the bill, operators of terrestrial, online and cruise casinos are required to report all transactions worth more than USD 100,000. Such a decision is more lenient, compared with USD 3,200 in the previous bill.
