The Story of Ignition Casino and Poker Room

Ignition Casino and Poker Room is the third-largest American network of its type. It trails only PokerStars and 888Poker for the amount of traffic it receives.

It is also the only American site that offers quick-fold poker and one of a handful that provides mobile gameplay.

Even the payout reputation from this site is unmatched for U.S.-based players. Although it can take more than a week to receive a check-based withdrawal, Bitcoin is an option that provides funding in 24 hours or less.

With better flop percentages and softer games, it’s easy to see why Ignition Casino and Poker Room is a popular choice for players. Their story of resilience is what makes it an attractive option for many.

Online Poker is Legal Again in the United States

Ignition Casino has a story that dates back to 2000, but it is how it became a poker room that is quite intriguing.

Poker was initially offered through a company called Bovada, which was a spin-off of the popular Bodog Poker. This online offering came about in 2004, but changes to legal gambling in the U.S. virtually eliminated this activity in 2011.

Only four states currently allow real-money online gambling using poker: Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey. West Virginia authorized it in 2019, with a regulated industry expected to start in 2020.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, based in Quebec, rescinded Bovada’s gaming license in 2016 after reaching an agreement with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. No permits would be given to gambling operators that accept customers from the United States as part of this deal.

Bovada attempted to spin-off the poker room to Ignition Casino to meet the obligations of the licensing board, but it was to no avail with the generalized agreement to exclude all Americans. Both entities got blocked, and discussing poker rooms in the U.S. became part of a media embargo.

Times Are Changing for Online Poker

Online poker is legal in the United States on the individual level from a technical standpoint. Most states don’t have laws against online gambling, but there are a few exceptions. Washington State makes it a felony to participate in sites like Ignition Casino. Louisiana and Utah have laws against individual gamblers.

If you live in a state where online poker is regulated, then you’ll have no issues playing on an authorized site.

Ignition Casino does not receive that designation because the operations are in Costa Rica. Its presence is legal there, but it is up to individual players to determine the legality of depositing or withdrawing funds based on where they live.

That means anyone living in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, and Maryland should not use Ignition Casino and Poker Room because of the regulations. If you live in other states, then you must follow all applicable laws.

What Are My Deposit and Withdrawal Options?

If you live in an unregulated area and decide to use Ignition Poker, then you may experience a debit or credit card rejection when you attempt to deposit funds. That’s why Bitcoin is such a welcome addition to this platform.

You also have the option to use services like MoneyGram or Western Union.

Ignition Casino and Poker Room uses the same network as Bovada. It may not be regulated or licensed, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have any fun. As long as you ensure personal compliance with local statutes, you can wager real money and take advantage of mobile gaming availability.
