Sports betting operator William Hill US will enter Florida for the first time after agreeing a deal to open a new land-based racebook at Casino Miami.
Pending regulatory approvals, the racebook is scheduled to open in late December 2019 with a 2,300 square feet space state-of-the-art viewing facility, featuring 10 screens for fans to watch events, as well as a 30ft video wall, high-top tables and 30 race carrels.
“Casino Miami is a great location with a modern space where we have created a first-class experience for all racing fans in the area. We look forward to working with Phil Ruffin and his team to enable our customers to bet on races from across the country,” said Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill US.
“William Hill has unparalleled expertise and a rich history in racing. The company has led the industry for decades and together we will bring state-of-the-art technology and innovation to Casino Miami. This new race book will provide us with an incredible amenity for guests and will place us at the forefront of the forthcoming Florida sports betting business,” added Casino Miami owner Phillip Ruffin.
The racebook opening will mark William Hill’s first operations in Florida in its 85-year history. The partnership with Casino Miami also positions the operator for entry into Florida’s future sports betting market. Last week Florida Senator Jeff Brandes filed three bills which could see sports betting legalised and regulated in the state before the end of this year.
Racebook customers at the Casino Miami will be able to watch and wager on major thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound tracks, as well as Jai Alai from around the country.
