The board of La Liga football club CA Osasuna has come under pressure from the club’s supporters, over its relationship with shirt sponsor KirolBet.
During the recent Pamplona club’s ‘public assembly’, numerous members speak out against KirolBet as shirt sponsor and Osasuna’s membership passed the decree that the club should terminate all agreements with ‘compromising partners’.
In his response to the decree, club president Luis Sabalza stated that Osasuna governance will begin discussions with Grupo Kirol seeking an early termination to KirolBet’s sponsorship, which will formally end in 2021.
“If the assembly so wishes, we will dialogue with Kirolbet, but we must bear in mind that, in the event of a voluntary termination, we would have to pay compensation that is not quantified,” Sabalza explained to Osasuna supporters.
Club CEO Fran Canal has also reminded supporters about Kirolbet’s financial importance as shirt sponsor. Canal added that they had already made several adjustments, including removing Kirolbet’s logo from shirts of Osasuna’s youth teams. Also, next year the fans will be able to buy the club shirt without the Kirolbet logo on it.
