Denmark opening for online bingo and horse race betting

The European Commission approved previously proposed amendments to Denmark’s existing gambling laws that were intended to put an end to Danske Spil’s monopoly over betting on horse races as well as over online bingo.

The Danish government, in accordance with European Union business laws, wants to liberalise its bingo and horseracing markets. The government had asked the EC for a review of its draft laws in preparation for opening bingo and horseracing to licensed European betting/gaming enterprises.

The regulated online gambling market of Denmark was officially opened at the beginning of 2012. The country has made sure that a regulatory framework for casino, poker and sports betting has also been presented. Currently, poker operators are allowed to tap into their international liquidities.
