Norway wants to squeeze out foreign bookmakers

The Norwegian gambling regulator Lotteri-og Stiftelsestilsynet made proposals to restrict access to companies with an international license to the internal market of Norway.

This implies more stringent regulatory rules in accordance with the proposed new gambling legislation. The state-owned companies Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, which are based in the country, are the only companies that will not be affected by these laws.

The Norwegians came to this decision after the government announced in December 2017 plans to close a loophole that allows foreign operators to advertise their services on Norwegian television, despite the fact that Nosrk Tipping and Rikstoto are the only companies that are allowed by law.
