Swedish online gambling market revenue increased 11.4%

According to the Swedish regulator Lotteriinspektionen, the online gambling market revenue increased 11.4 per cent to US$12.5 billion, but only less than half of it was generated by licensed operators, with a 14.9 per cent increase to US$5.8 billion.

Gross gaming revenue in the regulated Swedish market came in at SEK17.22bn (€1.64bn/$1.98bn), up 0.35% on SEK17.16bn in the previous year. Lotteriinspektionen noted that the amount generated by international brands was up 14.7% year-on-year, while Swedish-based, licensed companies generated 14.9% more than in 2016.

Interestingly, that Swedish adults spent 2.18% of their disposable income on gambling in the past year, slightly less than 2.21% in 2016.
