Right now, everybody seems to be full of praise for Liverpool FC, speaking in awe about the glory of the English club, while at the same time blaming Ernesto Valverde for the Barcelona defeat. I will defend Ernesto Valverde.
Based on the “experts” opinion, last week, when Barcelona won, it was Messi who did everything (or luck which kept the score at 3-0 and not 3-2 or 3-3 or whatever). So, the Barcelona coach did nothing for last week’s win, but yesterday it was 100% his fault? No my friends, it was Messi and the rest of the team’s fault. Yes, Valverde has built a team based on Messi, but with no Xavi, no Iniesta and the No 10 himself, being now over 30 years old.
And still, he has won two back to back La Liga titles, one Copa Del Ray (with probably another one coming soon). But, I keep forgetting. Valverde didn’t do a thing about this, Messi did it all. I would like to end this short defence by saying that two painful send outs do not make Valverde a bad manager. Just ask Guardiola about this!
