The Champions League is the best trophy in Europe that a European team can win. It is where the best teams in Europe come together to battle it out to see who, statistically, is the best team in Europe. With this year looking very interesting in terms of which teams could potentially win it, and which teams have massively strengthened their squad from last year, it has led to there being a lot of uncertainty in terms of predictions and some very interesting betting odds being publicised by sportsbooks.
You can get involved yourself and predict who you think will win the Champions League, as well as also being able to predict a range of different outcomes in this competition. There are some huge betting offers at www.maxfreebets.co.uk. You can use these competitive betting odds in order to make your predictions and get the best returns from your wagers.
It might be another difficult year in terms of predictions, as last season surprised most people, with a Liverpool v Tottenham final, an all English final. Liverpool were not an extremely surprising team to make the final, having been in excellent form in the league as well, but Tottenham was a huge surprise. The chances are, this will not be a repeated final and we expect another European giant to reach the final instead of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.
In terms of how the bookies are backing teams and how betting odds look, the common favourite to win the champions league is Manchester City. That is the one trophy that Pep Guardiola has failed to win at City so far and therefore will certainly be his one to go for. Last season Man City won a total of 4 trophies, which included the Community Shield (if that counts), the carabao cup, the FA cup and the Premier League. City have strengthened their squad since last season, with the introduction of Rodri, who was a very expensive player. Manchester City have also started off the new season in inspiring form. Not to mention that they have been given the easiest Champions League group once again.
The teams included in Manchester City’s group, include FC Shakhtar Donetsk, GNK Dinamo and Atalanta BC. This is a group that Manchester City should sail past in and win every single game in this group. This will then put them in great position going into the next round of games, as they will pay second place of another group.
There are a lot of other talented teams who are capable of winning the tournament as well. Rated just behind City in the prediction rankings, we have the likes of Barcelona, then Liverpool, Real Madrid, PSG and Juventus. These are all good contenders for the trophy as well. Barcelona have massively improved their squad, with the introduction of world class talent like Greizmann. However so have teams like Real Madrid, who have introduced Eden Hazard and Juventus who have brought in De Ligt. This will make for a very interesting competition and we will find out whether or not there are going to be some surprises along the way that can alter the conclusion to the competition and who will win the Champions League.
It is not only the winner of the competition that you may want to predict, you can also predict other outcomes, such as the top goal scorer, fixtures and more. Below, we have predicted what we expect to be the outcome of the group stages, use these predictions as tips if you were to go on and take a bet for yourself.
Group A: 1. Real Madrid, 2. PSG, 3. Galatasaray, 4. Club Brugge.
It is clear to see that the very likely winners of this group are going to be between either PSG or Real Madrid. It is difficult to decide which one will top the group, but we have gone with Real Madrid due to how they have strengthened over the summer and also having a Champions League winning expert, in Zidane, as their manager.
Group B: Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, Olympiakos, Red Star Belgrade.
Similar to group A, there are 2 teams in this group who we think will comfortably get through the group stage. Which is Bayern and Spurs. Despite Tottenham reaching the final last year, we do not think that they could repeat this success and we think that Bayern will be too powerful for them.
Group C: Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Atalanta, Dinamo.
As we mentioned earlier, Manchester City are too powerful for this group and will breeze past the other teams. Shakhtar seem like their toughest competition and that is why we expect them 2 to be the ones to progress through.
Group D: Juventus, Athletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lokomotiv Moscow.
This is a very tough group, possibly one of the toughest of them all. There are 3 very strong teams in this group, so it was difficult to predict who could win this group. However, seeing as Juventus are more likely to win it than Athletico, we had to choose them to top the group. Athletico will be tough competition, but we think they will finish second and then Leverkusen third.
Group E: Liverpool, Napoli, RB Salzburg, Genk.
Based on them being the current holders of the Champions League trophy, we reckon that Liverpool will assert their dominance once again in this group and will successfully top the group, with Napoli being a close second. RB Salzburg look like a promising side, however, not on the level of Liverpool or Napoli.
Group F: Barcelona, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Slavia Praha.
Barcelona have made some excellent signings this transfer window which have massively strengthened their squad, for this reason, we think they have the capabilities and will beat Inter and Dortmund to top spot. Second place was a very difficult decision and a lot of people will disagree with this selection; however, we feel that due to the signings and the current squad that Inter Milan have, they will finish ahead of Dortmund, but it will be a tight call.
Group G: Benfica, Lyon, Zenit St Petersburg, RB Leipzig.
This is a very difficult group to predict, there are some very matched teams in here. However, we think that Benfica will top the group and then Lyon will maybe miss out on goal difference. Zenit are a stern favourite to top the group, but we think they will struggle.
Group H: Ajax, Chelsea, Valencia, Lille
Finally, group H. Ajax had a fantastic season last season and we think they will totally run this group, potentially not even losing a single game. Chelsea have had an extremely poor start to the season, and we think they will just about scrape second place. Valencia could also claim the second spot especially if Chelsea carry on their form.
Only time will tell to see who will claim the Champions League trophy and this year is going to be another very exciting one, full of twists and turns.Follow us on
