French iGaming industry got nearly €1 billion in 2017

The online gambling market of France for the calendar year 2017 grew by 18% compared to the previous year and received a profit of €962 million.

Betting and first deposit amounts also grew on a 9% percentage to reach €9.2 million. What has perhaps been most impressive is that French punters rekindled their interest in horse racing as active horse bettors increased in numbers for the first time in four years, from 484,000 to 523,000. Elsewhere, online poker stakes increased 1% year-on-year to €3.6bn in regards to cash games, with entry fees for tournaments also up 9%.

ARJEL collected a total of €439m in tax from online gambling activities in the past year, which is 13% more than in 2016.
