NBA supports launch of ‘NBA Last 90’

The National Basketball Association intends to launch a virtual sports betting product, marking a first for a major North American sports league. Together with virtual sports content developer Highlight Games Limited NBA plans to launch ‘NBA Last 90’.

The virtual product will utilise archived NBA match highlights as well as a large portfolio of footage from recent seasons which is hoped to deliver a “unique and compelling” virtual sports experience. ‘Last 90’ will involve moments of actual NBA games made to simulate the final 90 seconds of a matchup, with bettors invited to wager on a variety of props, including which team will win, first basket and over/under point totals. There will be millions of possible outcomes of these simulated contests, and they will be decided by a random number generator.

“Virtual sports betting is incredibly popular in regions around the world and we’re looking forward to giving fans another innovative way to engage with the NBA,” said Scott Kaufman-Ross, Head of Fantasy & Gaming, NBA.

“NBA Last 90 features real NBA stars and real NBA highlights, differentiating it from any other virtual sports product on the market. We’re confident that players around the world will be instantly engaged with NBA Last 90,” added Tim Green, CEO of Highlight Games.

The ‘NBA Last 90’ product will make its debut in the US and European gaming and lottery markets during the 2019-20 NBA season across retail, online and mobile platforms.
