New Hampshire is set to become the latest US state to launch sports betting after DraftKings was approved by NH Executive Council as the exclusive partner of the New Hampshire Lottery.
DraftKings was selected by the New Hampshire Executive Council following a competitive bidding process, offering the New Hampshire Lottery the best financial package, the most highly rated mobile sports betting app, and the fastest implementation timeline.
Legislation signed into law by Governor Chris Sununu in July allows for up to 10 retail sportsbook locations and five mobile offerings, however, it appears that DraftKings will serve as the state’s sole betting operator.
“We are partnering with a world-class company to provide a first-rate customer service experience. With today’s vote, everyone will now be able to bet on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in time for this year’s Super Bowl,” said governor Sununu.
Through the deal, the New Hampshire Lottery will receive 50 per cent of gaming revenue from sports betting sales, with mobile sports betting expected to launch in January 2020. The deal will run for six years, which includes two two-year extensions.
As part of its commitment to working closely with the New Hampshire Lottery, DraftKings will open an office in the state.
New Hampshire sports betting legislation allows individual communities to vote on whether to allow retail sports betting locations in their areas. The cities of Berlin, Claremont, Franklin, Laconia, Manchester and Somersworth have all voted in favour of sportsbook locations so far.
