Pennsylvania online gambling market set for July 15 launch

Nearly 18 months after the governor signed the enabling legislation, Pennsylvania finally has a date for the launch of online gambling. Casino and poker market will launch on July 15.

State lawmakers legalized online gambling in 2017, but the implementation has taken quite some time. Finally, on Wednesday morning, executive director of PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB) Kevin O’Toole broke the news that state’s online casino gaming will kick off in 90 days.

Pennsylvania’s online gambling launch would bring the number of active online states to four, joining Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey. Nevada has poker only, so PA would be the third in the country with online casinos. Ten of the 13 Pennsylvania casinos secured permits to offer table games and slot machines online, and seven of those will also spread poker. The golden ticket for all three could initially be purchased for a discounted $10 million.

Sources also expect the first PA online sportsbooks to go live in the coming weeks, even prior to online poker sites.
