Portugal loses profits from online gambling

Portugal is one of the few countries where the online gambling industry is sluggish. The profit from online gambling in the second quarter of 2017 fell by 6 million euros compared to the figures for the first quarter of this year.

These figures almost became the lowest since the time when gambling was legalized in Portugal. The profit from the activities of gambling operators was lower only in the third quarter of 2016, when the total profit amounted to 24.1 million euros.

The biggest regression is observed in the sports betting industry. Their profit margin decreased by 20%. The total amount of income from sports betting was 13.9 million euros.
