Riga will close 42 gambling halls for five years

The gambling industry in Latvia is one of the lines of business demonstrating stable growth. At the end of 2016, the industry is ready to reach the pre-crisis level, but the changed policy of the state with regard to the sphere of gambling puts into question not only its development, but also its existence in the legal field.

Riga authority has made the decision on liquidation of 42 gambling halls within the nearest 5 years. A month ago, an order was issued for the liquidation of 9 rooms, and this week – 33 rooms.

The halls will be closed in the historic part of the city, mixed buildings and a protective part. The ban does not apply to 4-5-star hotels, as well as public buildings.
