Svenska Spel, a state-run gambling operator in Sweden, has renewed its existing two-decades-long partnership with Hockey Allsvenskan, the second-highest ice hockey league in Sweden.. The partnership will be valid until 2025 and there is an option to extend it for two more years.
The deal runs through to June 30th, 2012, and is valued at €48m, with the bulk of the proceeds to be distributed among the league’s fourteen teams.
The new agreement, including the option years, is worth over SEK 200 million. In addition, a championship bonus can also fall out. The bonus, which is the same for the men’s and women’s national teams, can amount to a maximum of SEK 1.5 million per year if both Tre Kronor and Damkronorna win the World Cup gold. The new agreement will apply from 1 July 2019.
Patrik Hofbauer, CEO of Svenska Spel, said: “Svenska Spel and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association have a long and successful story together. Through the extension of the agreement, we can continue to create the right conditions for Swedish hockey to continue their fine development.”
