In the county of Kinmen held a referendum on the issue of legalization of gambling business. The results of the vote were shocking for the supporters of the casino. Only 2705 respondents voted for the support of gambling, out – 24,368.
The referendum was initiated by the adviser of the Chinese National People’s Party Jing Chun-sheng. He asked local residents to support the project to build an international resort complex with a casino.
On the eve of the referendum, representatives of religious communities, as well as opponents of legalization of the casino, issued an appeal to local residents to vote against the construction of the gaming complex.
