The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) released the results for the fiscal year following which the state of Pennsylvania demonstrated the best result in terms of gross revenue from slot machines and desktop gambling.
Gross revenue throughout the state grew by 1.4% compared to the previous year and amounted to $3.25 billion. The growth was due to the growth of revenues from board games by 3.3%, which amounted to $895 million. Tax revenues from board games also increased by 4% from $138 million in fiscal year 2016/2017 to $144 million in fiscal year 2017/2018.
Pennsylvania plans to legalize sports betting, and the provisional rules were put into effect earlier this month, until permanent legislation is developed. The current provisions determine a significant tax rate of 36% and a license fee of $ 10 million.
