Finland’s state-owned gaming operator Veikkaus has selected SBTech as its new online and retail sports betting platform provider.
Under the agreement, SBTech will integrate its sportsbook platform technology to Veikkaus’ online offering, with the aim of launching early next year.
The long-term agreement follows a competitive procurement process and sees SBTech integrate its sportsbook platform with Veikkaus’ online operations with a view to launching in early 2020, followed by deployment of the technology across the monopoly operator’s network of more than 3,000 retail outlets in Finland.
Among the improvements across both outlets will be an overhaul of the existing pre-match and live sports betting products, allowing Finnish players to wager on more than 55 sports and over 2,000 betting markets.
The overhaul of Veikkaus’ sports betting offering follows a year of declining sales, with combined online and retail sports betting revenue falling by 55 per cent year-on-year to €534.7m in 2018.
