William Sean Creighton, the founder of online sportsbook 5Dimes, was found dead in Costa Rica. The cause of death has not been confirmed.
43-years old Creighton was found in a cemetery in the small fishing town of Quepos, according to a statement from the nation’s judicial investigation department (OIJ). It was located approximately three hours away from where he was initially abducted in September of last year.
“We can confirm Costa Rican authorities identified the remains of a U.S. citizen in Costa Rica. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss. We are closely monitoring local authorities’ investigation into the cause of death,” a United States State Department spokesperson announced.
In connection with his abduction in both Costa Rica and Spain, authorities have arrested 12 people in January. The suspects are being investigated for the crime of extortive kidnapping, according to the Costa Rica Office of Public Ministry. It was not yet announced if it will bring any additional charges now that Creighton’s death has been confirmed.
Creighton, who was born in West Virginia, moved to Costa Rica and founded 5Dimes in 1999. Online sportsbook headquartered in San Pedro, located in the mountainous interior next to Costa Rica’s capital city. The site has served bettors in the U.S. for two decades.Follow us on
