Betway, owned by Super Group, has appointed former Real Madrid star Guti as its latest brand ambassador for the Spanish market. This strategic move aligns with the operator’s push to enhance its football marketing portfolio ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following similar high-profile partnerships such as Stake’s collaboration with Eden Hazard and GR8_Tech’s deal with José Mourinho.
Guti, known professionally as José María Gutiérrez Hernández, is renowned for his illustrious career as a Real Madrid academy graduate. He made his senior debut in 1995 and became a staple in the first team, accumulating 542 appearances, 77 goals, and 15 major trophies over 15 years. Internationally, he earned 13 caps for Spain between 1999 and 2005.
After retiring in 2012, Guti transitioned into coaching roles with Real Madrid, Beşiktaş, and UD Almería, before becoming a respected football analyst in Spanish media. His deep-rooted connection to Spanish football and his legacy as a player make him a compelling ambassador for Betway.
Guti shared his excitement about the partnership: ‘I’m excited to join Betway Spain as an ambassador. My time in elite football showed me that quality and commitment are inseparable; today, I’m proud to represent those values with a market leader and share this path with all of you.’
The signing follows Super Group‘s Q1 2026 financial results, which reported $612 million in revenue. The company has also seen leadership changes, with Kirsty Ross taking over as Chief Operating Officer from Jason Kenny. Ignacio Alonso, Marketing Manager for Betway Spain, commented on Guti’s appointment:
‘Guti joins Betway as one of the greatest legends in Real Madrid‘s recent history. He represents loyalty to the colors, excellence, and the purest talent in world football, making him the perfect ambassador for Betway in Spain.’
