The government approved a series of amendments to gambling laws, one of them to prohibit online gambling adverts to prevent gambling addiction.
The bill is aimed at enhancing regulatory restrictions of the gambling sector, which will enable making infatuation with gambling a lot more difficult. The current regulations allow gambling through automated devices and bookmaking machines in the entire territory of the country.
It is recommended to organize it only in the four settlements where casinos are allowed to operate. Participating in organized games will only be allowed after validating age.
With the prohibition of the adverts, operators will be given less incentives to join the Armenian marketplace. Till now advertising allowed will be at hotels which are 4 stars and higher, entry points to the Republic of Armenia, and gaming centers. The ban will be in effect until the government sees fit to lift and allow for further advertisements.
