Belgium toughens advertising gambling

At the end of July, the Belgian government considered two bills imposing new restrictions on gambling. Now the authorities insist on adopting a tougher law on advertising gambling, which would completely prohibit advertising of all types of gambling during live broadcasts of sports events.

Minister of Justice Cohen Hins, who previously initiated a bill toughen the distribution of gambling advertisements on TV, proposed a new document. The minister’s initiative is aimed at protecting vulnerable segments of the population. In addition to the ban on gambling advertising during live broadcasts, it includes such provisions:

– raising awareness of problem gambling;

– fight against gambling;

– limit the number of advertisements of private operators.
