UK based bookmakers Betfred has become the title sponsor of the British Masters golf tournament (9-12 May – Hillside Golf Club – Southport Merseyside). It has secured a 2-year agreement with the PGA European Tour, becoming title sponsor to one of its lead tournaments for its flagship Race-to-Dubai series.
It follows sponsorships of the Betfred World Snooker Championships; Betfred Super League, Championship and League One; World Matchplay Darts; and football with the Scottish League Cup.
Betfred founder, Fred Done said: “I’ve been looking at golf sponsorship for some time so when the British Masters, with Tommy Fleetwood hosting in the North West, was put to me it seemed the perfect opportunity to get involved. I am absolutely delighted to see the Betfred brand alongside such a high profile event in the sport of golf”.
European Tour chief executive, Keith Pelley, added: “Betfred has a strong track record in sponsorship across a number of sports, including rugby, football, snooker and horse racing, and we are thrilled the British Masters will now be their first golf sponsorship”.
