Betty Gaming Secures UK License for June 1 Launch

Betty Gaming CA Ltd. has obtained a UK Gambling Commission license and announced plans to launch its online casino in the British market on June 1, 2026. The move marks the company’s first international expansion beyond its home market of Ontario and demonstrates the potential of its decentralized franchise business model.

Justin Park, Group CEO of Betty, shared the news during the company’s Q1 2026 investor update. He described the UK launch as a critical step in scaling the franchise model globally, stating: ‘The UK is our first market outside Ontario and proof-of-concept for the decentralized “franchise” model that will scale us globally.’

Introduced in 2025, Betty‘s franchise model involves partnering with experienced managers, providing them with brand assets, technology, digital marketing tools, operational support, and startup capital. Franchisees receive ownership stakes and the flexibility to expand their operations, raise additional funding, and offer equity. Betty will generate revenue through licensing fees from these franchisees.

Park commended Adele Baker, CEO of Betty UK, for her leadership and ability to maintain the company’s culture while driving innovation. He noted: ‘She has set the bar extremely high for talent and has an uncanny understanding of when to innovate versus when to replicate successful strategies from Ontario. The team is starting to gel, and preserving our culture is vital to our success.’

The UK launch takes place amid a significant regulatory challenge, as the UK government recently raised the Remote Gaming Duty from 21% to 40%. Park indicated that Betty UK has developed an innovative approach to address the tax increase, emphasizing strategies beyond reducing RTP or supplier fees. He also observed that UK players share key characteristics with Ontario players, particularly their preference for reliable chat-based customer support.

Betty UK will utilize 23 Broadway‘s player acquisition platform, which has been instrumental in the company’s growth in Ontario. The platform’s AI-driven technology has enabled Betty to scale efficiently without building its own marketing infrastructure.

Since its launch in Ontario’s regulated iGaming market in February 2023, Betty has positioned itself as a female-focused casino brand. The company’s expansion into the UK and upcoming launch in Alberta’s regulated market highlight its ambition to become a global leader in the iGaming sector.
