Colombia grants first online licence

The first operator Coljuegos has been approved to launch online gaming under Colombia’s new iGaming regulations, just days before the country’s blacklist of unlicensed operators comes into force.

The platform estimates an investment of about 15,000 million pesos in the next three years of operation and expects to reach 1,000,000 registered users during the term of the contract, creating around 3,000 jobs.

With the country’s first online gambling licence, Colombian operators are hoping to steal a march on their international competition by leveraging their local know-how and taking advantage of provisions to allow online betting terminals in bars and other land-based venues.
