Evolution Gaming enters Swiss gambling market

Live dealer software supplier Evolution Gaming has formed a partnership with Grand Casino Baden, one of four Swiss land-based casinos to secure a new online gaming licence in the country.

Under the terms of the deal, Evolution will supply its full portfolio of Live Casino games to the land-based casino, which soon will also be operated digitally at www.jackpots.ch. The website, which has been operating as a free-to-play casino for a while now is expected to re-launch next month after new laws that permit online gaming in Switzerland come into effect on July 1.

Players will be offered the chance to play Evolution’s mix of Live Casino games, including live dealer Baccarat, Blackjack, and Roulette as well as game show-style games such as the award-winning Lightning Roulette. The games will be available across smartphone, tablet, and desktop.

Grand Casino Baden was confirmed as one of four igaming licensees by the Swiss National Council earlier this month, alongside Casino Davos (which is part-owned by Grand Casino Baden), Grand Casino Luzern and Casino Zurichsee.

Switzerland’s new gambling law – Geldspielgesetz – was approved last year. The Gambling Act also gained support from the nation’s voters in a referendum that was held last summer. The new law came into force on January 1, 2019. Under its provisions, only the nation’s land-based casinos can offer online gambling operations and Switzerland will begin banning unlicensed sites from July 1.
