Expekt decides to exit UK market

Expekt, the Betclic Everest Group subsidiary and one of Europe’s oldest online sportsbooks, has confirmed that it will no longer operate its services for the UK.

The sportsbook will no longer accept UK deposits but will allow customers to bet on its markets until 31 October. However, they will have to withdraw funds and close accounts up until December 6, 2019.

Founded in 1999 by Swedish entrepreneurs Christian Haupt and Conny Gesar, Expekt is recognised as one of betting’s first pan-European multi-language online sportsbooks.

At its peak, Expekt serviced a reported 1.8 million registered customers and was sold in 2008 to French online gambling group Mangas Gaming Group for €125 million.

Expekt’s European presence will be maintained in the markets of Sweden and Poland under the management of Betclic Everest.
