Global Gaming loses again in Swedish court

Global Gaming has failed in its latest attempt to overturn a mid-June decision to strip its SafeEnt subsidiary of its Swedish licence, with its plea for injunctive relief rejected by the country’s Supreme Administrative Court.

The update sees Global Gaming governance overruled for the third time by Swedish administrative courts after SafeEnt, which operates Ninja Casino, had its Swedish licences for commercial online gambling and betting revoked by the national regulator. Spelinspektionen found “serious deficiencies” in the company’s business practices, including failings related to responsible gambling and anti-money laundering measures and ordered to suspend its Swedish operations with immediate effect.

An appeal for injunctive relief was immediately filed to the Administrative Court, requesting that the decision should not apply while a final judgement is still being sought.

Rejection by that court was followed up by the Administrative Court’s Chamber of Appeal in Jonkoping also confirming that the revoking is be imposed until further notice.

Following the Administrative Court of Appeal’s ruling, Global Gaming brought the matter to the Supreme Administrative Court, hoping that it would finally receive the green light to resume its Swedish operations. However, the court rejected the gambling operator’s call for temporary relief from Spelinspektionen’s decision. The court did not provide further explanation as to why it has decided to reject Global Gaming’s appeal for injunctive relief.

“Our focus is now on the judicial review of the Swedish Gambling Authority’s decision that is currently taking place. We maintain that the decision is fundamentally wrong and disproportionate, and will show it during the process that is currently underway in the Administrative Court,” explained Tobias Fagerlund, CEO of Global Gaming.

The company was however already able to return to the market after launching NanoCasino. The brand is managed by Viral Interactive Limited, a Sweden-licensed subsidiary of Finnplay, while Global Gaming participates in the project as a marketing partner to assist the new online casino in all marketing, customer experience, and brand management matters.
