Merkur begins Totolotek rebrand

Merkur Sportwetten, the sports betting subsidiary of German gambling conglomerate Gauselmann AG, has begun its overhaul of the recently-acquired Polish betting and gaming business Totolotek SA.

Last April, Merkur acquired Polish bookmaker Totolotek outright from Greek gambling group Intralot SA, targeting Poland as the fifth active market for Merkur’s sports betting expansion.

The overhaul has begun with Totolotek shops in the country’s capital Warsaw being renovated and fitted with new betting terminals, as well as Merkur’s sun logo being added to the signage. The enhancement of retail locations throughout Poland will continue over the coming months.

Merkur has also moved to revamp Totolotek’s online presence by moving totolotek.pl Gauselmann’s platform and revamping it with new platform provisions and a new website redesign.

“Such an extensive modernisation as the one undergone by Totolotek has never before taken place in the Polish sports betting market. The great commitment of our parent company is paying dividends: The response from our customers is overwhelming, both in the betting shops and online,” said Adam Lamentowicz, CEO of Totolotek.

The company expects to complete the full restructuring of Totolotek assets and portfolio in time for the European Football Championship in 2020.

“Totolotek is one of the most renowned sports betting companies in Poland. With its integration into our corporate structure, we would like to further promote the success of Totolotek and sustainably strengthen its position in the market. We are convinced that this will be possible with our innovative products as well as our experience and financial strength” added Merkur Sportwetten managing director Niko Steinkrauss.
