Paddy Power has unveiled a new advertising ‘Special” campaign for its Paddy Power Games division fronted by former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho aka ‘The Special One’.
The nationwide campaign co-developed by creative advertising agency VVCP London sees a “humble Mourinho” detail to audiences advice on “what it takes to be special” – spoofing the most controversial moments of Mourinho’s career.
The bookmaker revealed in its ‘Propaganda’ blog section, that the two-time Champions League-winning manager “wrote bits of the advert himself”, keeping himself busy having been out-of-work for the past nine months having been sacked by Manchester United last December. Paddy Power also informed the audience, that it has packed the advert with as several ‘Easter eggs’, for audiences to catch.
‘Special” campaign sees the bookmaker maintain its strong 2019 marketing momentum, with Paddy Power having secured high-coverage successes through its ‘Loyalty is Dead’ campaign featuring Rhodri Giggs promoting Paddy Power rewards, and the recent ‘Save-our-Shirt’ sponsorship of Huddersfield AFC.
56-years old Mourinho is one of the most successful football managers in recent history. His accolades include three Premier League titles, four European trophies including two Champions Leagues, a treble in Portugal, a record-breaking points La Liga winning season, two Serie As and the Coppa Italia.
