Totalizator Sportowy, Polish state-owned lottery and online casino monopoly, for the first time has topped six billion zloty mark in 2018.
According to new figures released during the first week of April total sales jumped by 8.5% to PLN6.1b (US$1.6b). This resulted in two more new records, the total contribution to the state budget went over PLN2b while kickbacks to local sport and cultural programs exceeded PLN1b.
Totalizator Sportowy also still has a room for further improvement. 2019 figures will include results of Total Casino, online casino launched in December 2018. CEO of the company Gerard Cieślik previously suggested that within a few years it can reach 30% of their online operations income.
Record income could not be achieved without “helping hand” from the local Ministry of Finance which continues to blacklist international gambling sites that lack Polish approval. Since March 1 over 300 new domains have been added to the registry, and now list consists over 6,500 addresses. March’s inductees included Betsafe and Bet-at-home.
