Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has linked up with SkyCity Malta, a subsidiary of New Zealand-based SkyCity Entertainment Group, to launch a new online casino brand in the country.
SkyCity has launched its skycitycasino.com a few months after it originally announced its plans to enter the iGaming space in a bid to adapt to the ever-changing gambling environment.
GiG is providing its fully managed solution to SkyCity, including the technical platform, managed services, gaming content, front end development, CRM, compliance and marketing.
GiG, which operates the new site from Malta on behalf of SkyCity, expects the launch to make a significant positive contribution to revenue from 2020 onwards. Both partners have been working together for a number of years.
SkyCity chose to operate its online casino from Malta to circumvent New Zealand’s gambling law, under which the state-run Lotto and TAB are the only two authorized providers of online gambling services from within the territory of the nation.
However, the local government recently acknowledged that an increasing number of New Zealanders were gambling via offshore providers and last week announced a public consultation to gauge public support for regulating new forms of online gambling. The latest industry estimates indicate that New Zealand gamblers have spent NZ$ 381m (€63,5m) over the past 18 months.Follow us on
